Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam

A little known island off the south coast of Vietnam that is slowly becoming better known, and more developed. Stay further up the island. We stayed up past the town and the touristy areas and it was paradise. There was a lot of development going on between where we stayed and town tho, so I wouldn't be surprised if it were getting quite a bit busier on the island.

We had a beach to ourselves, hammocks, and great service from the staff, which included food and drink made to order and brought directly to you (in your hammock!) and just added to the tab. You can only get to the island by plane or ferry, at least that was the case when we went in Dec 2010. The ferry is NOT meant for anybody over 5'4"....I am 5'10" and I cannot describe how uncomfortable the ferry seats are for someone of my height! There is great snorkeling/diving available as well as the usual spa type services at various locations around the island.
